Amazon has added over 100 new shopping-related capabilities to Alexa ahead of the holiday season, enabling users to manage subscriptions, update lists, handle delivery instructions, and resolve payment issues. The update allows customers to use the AI assistant to create and edit shopping lists, change subscription delivery frequencies, modify delivery addresses, and ask questions regarding Prime or Audible billing. This release follows a series of AI-centric shopping features launched by Amazon throughout the year, including a dedicated shopping assistant and product notification tools.

The company reported significant growth in usage, stating that the number of people utilizing agentic features has grown eightfold since the start of the year, while over 400 million consumers have used Alexa for shopping across the last 12 months.

This update matters because it significantly expands Alexa's practical utility for millions of active users, signaling a broader industry push toward integrating functional agentic AI into everyday e-commerce experiences.
