Google Cloud has become the only major cloud provider to offer OpenAI models alongside Gemini and Claude on a single platform. Three OpenAI models launched as a private preview for select enterprise customers with sign-ups opening immediately. The newly available options include GPT-6 Astra for demanding tasks such as coding and research, GPT-6.1 Sol as a more affordable alternative with comparable performance, and GPT-6 Luna designed as a fast and cost-efficient option for everyday use.

All charges for the OpenAI models run through a single Google Cloud bill and count toward existing customer contracts, while Google has confirmed that customer data will not be used for training. In addition to the private preview on Google Cloud, the models will also appear within Gemini for Business and Google Antigravity. This integration creates a unique multi-model environment for enterprise users seeking centralized access to leading artificial intelligence systems.

This development underscores an ongoing internal tension at Google, as compute capacity dedicated to serving rival cloud customers directly supports its biggest competitors. The resource conflict highlights the complex strategic balance cloud providers must maintain between hosting third-party technologies and promoting their own proprietary models. This strategic shift matters because it centralizes access to competing frontier AI models under a single enterprise infrastructure provider.
