Nvidia announced the DSX POD reference design at GTC Berlin, cutting AI data center setup time from six months to as little as 14 days by shipping fully preassembled units in containers. Partners including Dell, HPE, Lenovo, and Schneider Electric will install computers, networking gear, cabling, power supplies, and liquid cooling inside the containers at the factory, where they are also fully tested before delivery.
Once the modular units arrive on site, operators only need to connect them to the power, cooling, and network of a prepared location. Nvidia emphasized that deploying infrastructure faster enables operators to run AI models sooner and accelerate revenue generation. The broader DSX platform also features closed-loop cooling systems that can use up to 100 percent less cooling water by releasing heat into the air without evaporation, though extreme heat in certain climates may still require supplemental cooling.
The first units of the Nvidia DSX POD are scheduled to ship worldwide to customers in early 2027. This modular data center approach aims to streamline infrastructure deployment for Vera Rubin systems and reduce resource consumption during operations. Why it matters: Faster data center deployment significantly accelerates how quickly businesses can scale their artificial intelligence operations and start generating a return on investment.
