TikTok launched an AI shopping assistant and an in-app one-click checkout feature on Monday to let users buy products directly from brands. The conversational AI agent is designed to help users discover and purchase products by remembering preferences, understanding context, and offering real-time guidance on shipping, sizing, product details, and availability. With the new checkout feature, users can make purchases directly from the For You feed with a single click.
The tools were built in partnership with commerce platforms and payment providers such as Shopify, Salesforce, Shoplazza, and Stripe. By integrating these tools directly into the broader app rather than relying solely on the TikTok Shop marketplace, the social network aims to capture a larger share of user transactions. The rollout follows the release of TikTok's Economic Impact Report, which showed that platform activity generated $81 billion in U.S. business GDP, with 54 million Americans buying products after watching TikTok videos.
This feature integration keeps users within the app ecosystem when asking product questions, preventing them from turning to external tools like OpenAI's ChatGPT. Market research firm eMarketer estimates that TikTok Shop generated $15.8 billion in U.S. sales in 2025, accounting for 18 percent of all U.S. social commerce.
These new shopping capabilities matter because they transform TikTok from an impulse-driven discovery feed into a direct transaction platform, keeping user traffic and commerce within the app.
