Microsoft reported a record-breaking quarterly revenue of $92.3 billion on Wednesday, marking a 19% increase over the year-ago quarter and the company's tenth consecutive quarter of record revenue. The tech giant also posted a net income of $36.6 billion, representing a 32% increase on a GAAP basis compared to the previous year.
The strong financial results were largely driven by Microsoft Cloud, which generated $63.9 billion in revenue, up 30% year-over-year. Within the cloud segment, Azure brought in $33.2 billion, while Microsoft 365 accounted for nearly $28 billion. Additionally, Microsoft reported $10 billion in revenue from OpenAI and noted that its commercial remaining performance obligation surged 73% to $677 billion.
To support this massive demand and future commitments, Microsoft's capital expenditures reached an all-time quarterly record of $45.2 billion. While the Devices and Consumer segment saw a 3% revenue decrease to $15.5 billion, the company's overall financial health remains exceptionally robust. This milestone matters because it highlights the massive financial scale and cloud infrastructure growth driven by the current artificial intelligence boom.
