Anthropic has updated Claude for Legal with new artifacts and pre-built templates to automate citation verification and streamline routine legal workflows. The system allows legal professionals to verify citations, compare cross-border laws, track proposed legislation, and check contracts against internal guidelines using interactive tables and overviews. The AI model handles initial source verification and directly links each statement to its original source before a human lawyer reviews the final output.
The expanded platform integrates with more than 60 tools in the legal directory, including Bloomberg Law, enabling users to connect external databases without manual file uploads. Major law firms and providers such as Goodwin, Harvey, Foley & Lardner, and PwC are also contributing custom tools to the platform. Anthropic states that the system includes built-in settings to enforce strict data protection rules and maintain necessary information barriers between teams for client confidentiality.
This update matters because it integrates AI verification directly into sensitive legal workflows while maintaining data privacy and human oversight.
