Cloudflare has released Clairic, an AI model that extracts data from documents faster and more cheaply than traditional large language models. The new model is currently available in preview on Workers AI, with open weights scheduled to follow soon.
Users simply name the fields they want extracted, such as an invoice total or order number, and Clairic returns the matching values in the correct format alongside a confidence score. Unlike standard language models that generate text token by token, Clairic answers every field in a single pass and returns null if a value is missing. Beyond basic extraction, the system can also handle simple calculations, estimates, and forecasts.
Cloudflare intends for Clairic to operate in chains alongside other models like Jev and GLM-5.3 to automate complex workflows efficiently. For example, processing a complaint email through a model chain takes 19.3 seconds, whereas running GLM-5.3 alone requires 61.7 seconds at nearly double the cost. While Clairic cannot yet reliably handle longer chains of calculations, this technology significantly reduces processing times and operational costs for enterprise document handling.
