Users can now perform everyday tasks entirely by voice, such as checking calendar events, sending emails, identifying and canceling duplicate financial charges, or building websites with checkout pages. A demonstration video released by OpenAI also highlighted capabilities like weather lookups and online shopping.
The enhanced voice feature is integrated into ChatGPT Work on both web and mobile platforms, enabling users to generate documents, presentations, and spreadsheets through voice commands alone. This new functionality is rolling out immediately in the latest version of the application.
For OpenAI and CEO Sam Altman, this release marks another step toward realizing an everyday AI assistant reminiscent of the film "Her." Altman previously referenced the sci-fi movie in 2024 during the initial launch of ChatGPT Voice. This integration highlights OpenAI's ambition to transform personal and professional computing, even as the expanded access brings new operational risks.
