OpenAI launched voice-based agentic features for the ChatGPT mobile app on Wednesday, enabling users to trigger complex workflows such as drafting documents and summarizing emails using voice commands. Plus and Pro subscribers gain access to a dedicated Work tab on their mobile devices to create documents, draft emails, summarize Slack messages, build sites, generate presentations, use a cloud browser, and manage finances. Meanwhile, free and Go tier users receive access to plugins and connected apps.
The updated mobile experience includes richer text output during voice conversations, seamless switching between text and voice modes, and cross-device continuity that lets users start a conversation on mobile and resume it on a desktop. This mobile rollout follows OpenAI's July release of the GPT-Live conversational model and its subsequent desktop integration, which brought similar task-completion and app-building capabilities to the platform.
The new features arrive as an increasing number of users rely on voice commands to direct AI assistants through complex tasks. Why it matters: This update bridges mobile convenience with advanced workspace automation, making complex agentic workflows accessible on the go.
