Saudi Aramco has acquired a 49 percent stake in artificial intelligence firm Humain in a $2.6 billion deal that includes contributing the oil giant's own AI technology in 2026. Humain was originally founded in May 2025 by the sovereign wealth fund PIF to help transform Saudi Arabia into a global AI hub by building cloud services, data centers, and training models such as the Arabic language model ALLaM.

As part of its long-term strategy, Humain aims to construct three gigawatts of data center capacity by 2030 to serve both domestic and international markets. The company is already expanding its reach, with AMD reporting in late August that joint infrastructure built with Cisco and Humain is actively serving customers. Meanwhile, Saudi Aramco plans to deploy the technology internally while generating new revenue streams by commercializing its proprietary AI solutions.

Despite regional challenges from the Iran war prompting CEO Tareq Amin to enhance data center security using Aramco's oil infrastructure protection expertise, demand for the company's services remains strong. This strategic investment underscores Saudi Arabia's push to diversify its economy and establish itself as a major international AI exporter.
