AI coding platform Replit is no longer working with Anthropic, according to statements made by CEO and co-founder Amjad Masad on Thursday at TechCrunch Disrupt. Masad cited cost, partnership terms, and performance as the primary reasons for the shift, noting that the platform now finds OpenAI to be a better partner. Replit previously utilized Anthropic Claude models to power its software development environment, a collaboration that contributed significantly to the company's revenue growth.

Despite the CEO's announcement, insiders familiar with the matter have pushed back, suggesting the partnership remained active as recently as September when Replit's production environment referenced Claude models. During his appearance at TechCrunch Disrupt, Masad also shared details regarding the company's financial growth, highlighting that enterprise contracts now account for approximately 15 percent of revenue, while B2B sales represent over 50 percent.

This shift in vendor relationships highlights the rapidly evolving strategic partnerships between AI model providers and application platforms competing in the developer tooling sector.
