Google has released AI Edge Foresight, a new offline Mac application designed to compete with popular AI note-takers like Granola. The application utilizes the on-device EmbeddingGemma 2 model, featuring 740 million parameters, to capture meeting notes completely offline across various apps and in-person discussions.

The software features a split-screen interface that allows users to type manual shorthand notes on one side while viewing AI-generated notes on the other. Users can also review full meeting transcripts, chat with a Gemma 4-powered assistant, and upload documents such as PDFs, Google Docs, and Microsoft Office files to build a searchable local knowledge base.

Optimized for Apple Silicon, the tool functions without an internet connection to provide real-time answers based on meeting notes and uploaded documents. This release showcases the practical capabilities of Google's Gemma series of offline models in a crowded productivity software market.
