Meta has acquired Conductor, an AI coding startup that lets users launch software projects by deploying multiple agents into parallel workspaces. Founded in 2024 by CEO Charlie Holtz, Conductor launched its core product last summer to help engineers work on separate project parts using agentic teams powered by models from labs like Anthropic and OpenAI. Holtz announced the deal on the company blog and X, noting that he will work with Meta chief AI officer Alexandr Wang and Superintelligence Labs head of product Nat Friedman. Meta confirmed the acquisition to TechCrunch without providing financial details.

Under the transition, Conductor's core features will operate normally until early next year, but its cloud service will shut down on November 20, at which point user cloud data will be deleted. The startup also teased that it will introduce something new for customers by early next year. Meta has been aggressively expanding its artificial intelligence capabilities, having recently launched its Muse Code coding agent and reporting over 10 million users for its Muse agents.

This acquisition strengthens Meta's development capabilities as it continues to compete in the fast-growing artificial intelligence coding sector.
