Blueprints AI has launched a second-generation software that generates code-compliant and permit-ready architectural construction blueprints in minutes from a 2D sketch, PDF, or text description. Founded in Santa Monica in 2025 by Al Dram and Coco Cao, the startup trained its models using eight years of approved drawing sets from Dram's own design and construction firm. The new version allows users to design and make changes to every aspect of a building at once, with updates automatically checked against local building codes while keeping licensed professionals responsible for final reviews and seals.

The platform aims to reduce the time architects spend on repetitive drafting work, which currently consumes about 80 percent of their working hours. The startup's system handles architecture, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and interior design aspects simultaneously, and a third version focusing on structural analysis and electrical panel design is already in development. Pricing for the first-generation software ranges from $3,200 to $8,500 per month, with custom enterprise plans available, and the upgraded version is being publicly unveiled at TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco.

This technology matters because it automates repetitive architectural drafting tasks, allowing professionals to shift the majority of their time from manual documentation to creative design.
