Cohere has launched North 2, turning its enterprise platform into a control center for AI agents that manage multi-step workflows and maintain context across sessions. The revamped orchestration system coordinates agents to utilize shared knowledge libraries, reuse skills, and connect with external tools such as Slack, SharePoint, and Jira. Additionally, North 2 enables companies to generate presentations, dashboards, and simple applications directly from text prompts within the chat interface, and the platform can be deployed on-premises, in the cloud, or fully air-gapped.

The new platform is model-agnostic, allowing organizations to plug in their own models alongside Cohere's offerings like Command A+. Administrators can utilize the North Admin tool to oversee token usage, user quotas, and access rights down to individual agents, while the system incorporates mandatory human approval for critical actions. Cohere also notes that its models require fewer tokens when running on Nvidia Blackwell and Hopper hardware, with early adopters like LG CNS and Bell Cyber already running North in production.

Cohere aims the platform at government agencies and regulated industries seeking strict control over their artificial intelligence deployments, aligning with the target audience of Aleph Alpha. Cohere acquired the Heidelberg-based company in April, and Aleph Alpha recently introduced its German-English language model, Kolibri. This release matters because it provides regulated enterprises with flexible, model-agnostic agent orchestration that prioritizes security and administrative control.
