Gudea is using artificial intelligence to help organizations spot and prevent social media crises before they escalate into major public controversies. The company pitched its platform Wednesday afternoon on the Startup Battlefield stage at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026, positioning itself as a proactive storm tracker for the internet that analyzes online behavior and information pathways rather than relying on legacy social listening metrics.

Founded in 2023 by Keith Presley, Jonathan Sperber, and James Thomin, Gudea emerged from the George Washington Initiative, a nonprofit that applied intelligence community strategies to domestic information campaigns. Unlike traditional tools that only track hashtags and impressions, Gudea evaluates who drives conversations and how stories spread across more than 500 platforms including X, Reddit, and TikTok. The startup currently serves nearly 40 clients, including major telecom and retail corporations, top AI labs, government agencies, and public relations firms.

This technology has become increasingly vital as generative AI lowers the cost and technical barriers for coordinating inauthentic online campaigns and spreading misinformation. While the founding team initially observed inauthentic activity in roughly one out of four analyzed issues, CEO Keith Presley notes that the proportion has risen sharply as malicious content production becomes easier. This tool matters because it equips decision-makers with the behavioral context needed to defend brand reputations proactively against fast-moving digital threats.
