Google has expanded its experimental AI app Dreambeans to India, marking the application's first international market outside the United States. Available on Android and iOS, the app launched with support for 13 local languages including Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Bengali, alongside English, just two months after becoming widely available to U.S. users.

Dreambeans uses information from connected Google services such as Calendar, Gemini, Gmail, Photos, Search, and YouTube to proactively generate personalized, illustrated stories about users' everyday lives without requiring prompts. The app features static illustrations and a Veo video-generation model to animate select stories. Google chose India due to high user overlap across its services and strong local interest, though the app currently limits users to a single language at a time rather than supporting mixed languages like Hinglish.

The app relies on Google's Personal Intelligence technology, raising potential privacy questions regarding sensitive personal data stored across connected services. To address these concerns, Google allows users to choose which services to connect, disconnect them at will, delete app data, and restrict certain subjects, while restricting access to personal Gmail accounts. This launch matters as Google tests whether proactive, data-driven personal storytelling can find a mass audience in the world's second-largest internet market.
