Anthropic has expanded its Claude for Startups program by offering qualifying companies a free year of Claude Team alongside one thousand dollars in API credits. Announced on Tuesday during SF Tech Week, the updated initiative provides eligible businesses with up to five premium seats for its group subscription plan and access to the new Claude Marketplace to build plug-ins.
To qualify for the subsidized AI model access and developer benefits, companies must have been founded within the last five years or have received funding in the last two years. Participants also gain the opportunity to book virtual office hours with Anthropic's Applied AI team for technical guidance and support.
Anthropic stated that the program was created because the benefits of artificial intelligence will largely reach people through companies building on top of models rather than through the models alone. Partnering closely with founders and developers remains central to the company's mission to support the broader ecosystem.
This developer initiative matters because it lowers financial barriers for early-stage companies looking to integrate advanced artificial intelligence capabilities into their products.
