Google Photos has launched its AI-powered virtual closet feature for all Android and iOS users in the United States, Brazil, and India. Inspired by the iconic wardrobe system from the movie Clueless, the new tool uses artificial intelligence to turn photos of your outfits into a digital wardrobe, allowing users to organize and plan what to wear.

The company initially announced the feature earlier this year with a summer rollout plan, bringing early access to Android users in June before expanding to iOS and additional supported markets. Inside the app, users can filter their clothing items by categories like tops, bottoms, and jewelry, and then mix and match pieces to create complete outfits. Google stated that wardrobe data and dressing habits are kept private and will not be shared with third parties or retailers.

The virtual closet release coincides with several other Google Photos updates, such as the Gemini Spark prompt tool, an upgraded markup tool for blurring sensitive information, and new Moods photo filters for Android. This feature matters because it brings consumer-facing generative AI tools into everyday applications, helping users manage personal routines directly from their mobile devices.
